Congratulations to Mark Richter for making the Shine Bowl run team.
This annual event is used to honor the top graduating cross country runners from around the state as well as help the Shriner’s raise money for their hospitals for crippled and burned children.
The Shrine Bowl Run in South Carolina was started in 1986 by Everett Stoudenmire, with the help of the South Carolina Track and Cross-Country Coaches Association.
In a normal year, Mark would participate by running a relay, with a football as a baton, from the Shriner’s Hospital in Greenville to Wofford College in Spartanburg, where they run the ball onto the field for the Shrine Bowl All Star football game.
They goal for the runners this year is to run a virtual race on Dec 12, while wearing their Shrine Bowl Run Sweatshirt. Afterwards they are going to post the video.
Only 5 athletes from the Charleston area made the Shrine bowl team. Mark is only the 5th Bishop England Runner to make the Shrine Bowl Run Team.
